This study aims to analyze the importance of death in the novels //Deuils cannibales et mélancoliques// (2000) and //Fleurs de crachat// (2005), by Catherine Mavrikakis. It will consider death as a biological phenomenon as well as a social, metempirical and empirical phenomenon that interrupts the daily life of the characters. The analysis will examine the relationship between death and the Quebec space where the characters live. It will study the collective attitudes and social practices towards mourning. America, as a host continent, will also highlight the differences between the space of origin and the space of Quebec, where many immigrants will be buried. | This study aims to analyze the importance of death in the novels //Deuils cannibales et mélancoliques// (2000) and //Fleurs de crachat// (2005), by Catherine Mavrikakis.
